A Mega Development within the Holy City
Located in the Holiest Islam city – Makkah around the Grand Mosque, Jabal Omar Development project is a unique construction project consisting of 40 state-of-the-art high rise buildings. The project is part of the expansion plan of the Haram of Makkah, to accommodate more people in the Haram, especially during Pilgrimage and Umrah periods.
The third phase of the Jabal Omar scheme involves the construction of four towers with a total built-up area of 400,000 square meters. The Towers are varying in height from 30 to 55 stories.
The uniqueness of the project lies in its massive size, its complex architecture, and its challenging design: two towers connected by a 40 meters long-span bridge.
Working alongside the project general contractor comprising of a joint venture between Arabian Construction company and Drake and Scull International, PEER provided a complete structural value engineering and full structural redesign of the towers. Our contribution to the project yielded a certified and approved cost saving of nearly 20 million Saudi riyals.
